The soft green-yellow colour of prehnite reminds you of the vast natural landscapes found in some countries. Prehnite was also discovered in a country with expansive plains, South Africa, by the Dutch governor and mineralogist Hendrik von Prehn. The Dutch presence in that country was already historically significant, and it was also the first time in history that a mineral was named after its discoverer. Besides South Africa, prehnite is also found in other countries in Africa, Australia, the United States, and Europe.

Sometimes you can also see black epidote inclusions in prehnite, which makes the stone even more intriguing.
