Garnet Meaning
The name garnet comes from the Latin 'granatus' or pomegranate. Garnet comes in many colors. Red garnet is the most common color worldwide.

The beautiful garnet family is an extensive group of gemstones with various colors. There are more than 20 types of garnet, about 5 of which are the best known. Some garnet colors are rare, such as blue garnet or purple garnet. Red, raspberry pink, and yellow are more common.

Rhodolite garnet is the rose-red variety and comes from the Greek 'Rhodo', meaning rose. Rhodolite garnet is a hybrid of almandine and pyrope garnets.
Spessartine garnet is orange and named after the Spessart district in Bavaria. The beautiful orange garnet is also called Mandarin garnet.
Hessonite is the cinnamon-colored variety. The name comes from Greek and means inferior. Despite this name, hessonite has a beautiful warm orange-brown color.
Tsavorite garnet is a valuable green garnet first found in 1960. Tsavorite often occurs in smaller stones.
Demantoid garnet, especially those found in Russia, is a special stone with a light to dark green color. In some demantoid garnets, you will find the so-called horsetail inclusion – a very small horsetail enclosed in the stone. This only occurs in demantoid garnet from Russia.
