Bumble Bee

Around twenty years ago, the discoverer of Bumble Bee was traveling in Indonesia. During one of his wanderings on Java, he saw the local population working a stone in such a way that it looked as if there was a full moon inside. They called the stone Batu badar blerang and used it to protect the wearer (Bumble Bee as an amulet).

The discoverer was so charmed by this stone that he loaded his vehicle full. The beautiful patterns in the raw material were a harbinger of what he could expect, and he decided to give the stone a new, sexier name: Bumble Bee.

Bumble Bee and the Gemstone Expert

Despite what you often read, the yellow Bumble Bee is not a jasper. Bumble Bee is a carbonate-rich opaque stone, which immediately disqualifies it from falling into the jasper group. Jasper is a stone composed of microcrystalline quartz, which is not the case with Bumble Bee.
